Atlantic Puffins, Fratercula artica, spend their lives at sea, coming ashore only to nest and rear young. They build their nests in crevices between large boulders. Not accustomed to dry land, they hop from boulder to boulder as they make their way back and forth from the water's edge to the nest. Machias Seal Island, off the coast of Maine, USA.
